The children’s choir assisted by Sister Mary
William as organist provided a musical background for the wedding at
9 am today of Miss Gertrude Cooper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.H.
Cooper, Betzner Avenue, to LAC Thomas Paleczny, Dunnvillle, son of
Mrs. Frances Paleczny, Shanley Street, and the late Mr. John
Paleczny. The ceremony
was performed at St. Joseph’s RC Church by Capt. the Rev. R.M.
Haller.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her
father, wore a gown of white chiffon velvet fashioned on “torso”
lines with scalloped front and square neckline edged with ruching.
The full skirt ended in a slight train.
Her double finger-tip-length veil had a scalloped edge and
was caught by a lace headdress studded with pearls. She carried a
crescent cascade of white gardenias and white anenomae
chrysanthemums.
Maid of honor was Miss Muriel Holle and
bridesmaids the Misses Adele Paleczny, sister of the bridegroom, and
Mary Frances Wunder, niece of the bride.
Miss Holle was attired ina gown of royal blue chiffon velvet
completed with a matching blue velvet pillbox hat with veiling and a
muff of royal blue velvet enhanced with Indianapolis pink
chrysanthemums. Miss
Paleczny chose wine chiffon velvet with matching pillbox hat,
matching veil and a muff of wine velvet tied with Valencia pink
chrysanthemums. The
junior bridesmaid was frocked in rose taffeta with matching
headdress ornamented with wine velvet bows and a muff of wine velvet
caught with Valencia pink chrysanthemums.
Mr. William E. Cooper, twin brother of the
bride and Henry Paleczny, RCAF, Lachine, Que., were groomsmen. Mr.
Jack Cooper, brother of the bride, and Cpl. Joseph Paleczny, RCAF
Belleville, ushered the guests to their places.
Dinner was served at the Olde Mill Coffee
Shoppe at 12 a.m. to some 60 guests.
Later a reception was held at the home of the bride where a
buffet supper was served.
Toronto and points east are destinations of
the couple for their wedding trip.
The bride donned prior to her departure, a chocolate brown
wool frock, a brown hat and brown accessories and a blue topcoat.
Her corsage was of white gardenias.
