The Petition of James
Bird a British Subject, born in Ireland has resided seven years
in this Province, aged forty-eight years, is ---- married, and has
three Children, |
Humbly
Sheweth,

That your petitioner
never received any Land from the Crown, and wishes to obtain an
allotment of vacant and improved Crown Land situated on the east
side of the Cardigan Settlement road opposite Richard Pugh,
improvements - the situation has turned out extremely swampy and
the timber has been completely cut off by regular license and therefore
prays for 300 acres and a front to extend at least 30 chains along
the road as the law is well known to be very objectionable but on
which he has lived and improved the lot 4 years. |
That it is his intention
forthwith to continue to cultivate and improve the same and to comply
in all respects with the Royal Instructions, being of ability so
to do, That he has not directly or indirectly bargained, or agreed
for the sale or transfer of the same to any person what ever. And
as in duty bound, your Petitioner will ever pray. |

On the 25th day of April
1826 before me Peter Brennen Esquire One of His Majesty's Justices
of the Peace for the County of York personally appeared the above
named James Bird and made Oath, that the several matters
set forth in the above Petition are true. |
